Alexa Brunet studied at the Belfast Art College and at the ENSP of Arles. She decided to settle in Marseille in 2002 and has lived there ever since. Since 2003, she has been part of the transit photography collective, mainly working for the press.
Alexa Brunet carries many projects, in France as well as abroad with concern for environnemental and social issues: Rue Alexandre Dumas (a documentary about “garage houses” in Arles), AZF, One Year After, Brest-Vladivostok (a journey by train from one ocean to the other), Los Olvidados de Oaxaca (about political prisoners in Mexico), Unusual Dwellers (a poetic overview of the variety of self-built original houses around France), in the Somme (a snap shot at different periods of the year of youth's country life in Picardie).
In January 2007, Alexa and Florence Vialettes published their first photography book: POST, ex Yougoslavie, published by Le bec en l’air.
In December 2010 she has published "Habitants Atypiques" (unusual dwellers) with Images en manoeuvres editions, and in April 2011 "En Somme" (in the Somme) with Diaphane Editions.
Her work is displayed on picturetank.com, an international network of photographers and independent collectives.
